Mid-layer jackets are a central part of layered clothing. They provide warmth without being too warm and work perfectly under a shell jacket when conditions become more demanding. Mid-layer jackets also work excellently as an outer jacket in mild weather.
Our range includes fleece jackets, lightweight synthetic insulated jackets and hybrid models from a number of brands. Many are made from recycled materials.
Choose a mid-layer jacket that works with your shell jacket. Synthetic insulation materials such as PrimaLoft retain warmth even when damp, whilst fleece is lightweight, affordable and breathable. For varied conditions, a hybrid model combining different materials is a good choice.
For conditions in Northern Norway, layered clothing is the smartest approach. A base layer in wool or technical synthetic next to the skin, a mid layer for warmth, and an outer layer for weather protection. A mid-layer jacket is the insulating layer that retains body heat. It is worn between a moisture-wicking base layer and a wind- and waterproof shell jacket.
Synthetic insulation continues to provide warmth when wet and dries quickly, whilst down offers the most warmth per weight and packs down the smallest. Choose based on the conditions you most frequently encounter.
