Patagonia W's R1® CrossStrata Jacket is developed as a combination of technical fleece and lightweight shell jacket. It is warm, stretchy and breathable like classic Regulator® fleece, while offering better resistance to weather and wear than traditional fleece. The slim cut and technical construction make it a versatile mid-layer for cool and changeable mountain conditions. The jacket is produced in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory.

The material consists of a lightweight double-woven fabric with a distinctive zigzag structure that feels soft and warm against the skin without overheating. The surface is treated with a durable water-repellent finish free from added PFAS, so that moisture beads off more easily. Stretch in both the fabric and the shoulders provides good freedom of movement, particularly when lifting or when the body rotates.

The front zip features a soft chin guard for added comfort. The jacket has a secure zip chest pocket and two high-placed hand-warmer pockets with concealed zips, which work well together with both a climbing harness and a backpack. The cuffs are low-profile, supple and snag-resistant, and are partially elasticated for a good fit. The hem is cleanly finished with minimal bulk, making the jacket comfortable to wear beneath a hip belt or harness.
