Wool terry is a blend in which wool is the main component, mixed with other fibres to make the garments thicker and more durable than pure wool garments. The loops on the inside of the garment trap a great deal of air and therefore provide fantastic insulation. The durability, combined with the fact that the garments do not itch and offer such excellent insulation, has led to the Norwegian Armed Forces adopting this quality as base layer.
