Osprey was founded in 1974 by Mike Pfotenhauer in Santa Cruz, California, where he hand-stitched made-to-measure bags for individual customers. In 1990 the business moved to Cortez, Colorado, and the brand has since grown into one of the world's most respected manufacturers of hiking packs, daypacks and travel bags.
