Carhartt – American workwear since 1889

Carhartt was founded in Detroit in 1889 by Hamilton Carhartt, and is one of the oldest and most established workwear manufacturers in the United States. It started with two sewing machines and five employees, and the first product was the Bib Overall – a heavy-duty carpenter's trouser developed in collaboration with railway workers. The motto "Honest value for an honest dollar" has stayed with the brand from the very beginning. The company remains family-owned and is headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan.

Duck canvas, down jackets and lined garments

Carhartt is known for durable materials such as duck canvas, heavy denim and solid lined winter jackets like the C003 Detroit Jacket and the iconic Active Jac. The range includes carpenter's trousers, jackets, hoodies, T-shirts, beanies, gloves, gilets and work boots – garments built to withstand hard wear for tradespeople, construction workers, and warehouse and industrial staff.

From the workplace to everyday wear

Although Carhartt was built around the working environment, the garments are today also popular as everyday and leisure wear. Classics such as the Acrylic Watch Hat and the bestselling jackets have found their way into city streets, cafés and camping trips. A natural choice if you want garments with a genuine workwear heritage – built to last for years.
