Here you will find our women's rain jackets: waterproof jackets with taped seams that keep you dry in rain and wind – for work, the school run, the city and the outdoors. Autumn weather in northern Norway calls for a jacket that handles more than a passing shower.
We carry rain jackets from Didriksons, Patagonia og Helly Hansen, including Didriksons Varja and Tilde, Patagonia Torrentshell 3L and Helly Hansen Moss.
A rain jacket is made to keep the rain out – for everyday use, the city and easy walks. Classic PU jackets, such as Helly Hansen Moss, are fully waterproof and durable, but breathe very little. A shell jacket has a breathable membrane and is made for activity in the mountains. Several of our rain jackets, such as Patagonia Torrentshell, also breathe well.
Hydrostatic head is measured in millimetres and tells you how much water pressure the fabric can take before water gets through. Around 10,000 mm keeps you dry in normal rain, while 20,000 mm or more handles heavy, prolonged rain and the pressure from backpack straps. Taped seams matter just as much as the fabric itself.
Wash the jacket regularly with a technical detergent, and reproof it when water no longer beads on the surface. Dirt and skin oils clog the fabric and make the jacket feel wet inside. Read more in our guide to rainwear and hydrostatic head.

Very little. PU jackets such as Helly Hansen Moss are fully waterproof and windproof, but let almost no vapour out. They suit everyday use and easy activity, while a breathable rain jacket or shell jacket is better when you walk fast or carry a backpack.
Wash with a technical detergent at a low temperature, and reproof with a spray or wash-in product when water no longer beads on the surface. Follow the care label – PU jackets should usually just be wiped or rinsed.
