Montane – British equipment built for speed and endurance

Montane was established in Britain in 1993 by Chris Roff and Jake Doxat, after they met on a three-month expedition to southern Chile. From the very beginning, the brand has specialised in lightweight, breathable and durable garments for mountain sport, expedition and endurance athletics, with clear roots in British mountain rescue and polar environments.

Lightweight as a philosophy

Montane was among the first to launch truly lightweight shell and wind jackets, and Featherlite Smock and Hydrogen Smock have established themselves as classics. The brand works with Gore-Tex, Pertex and PrimaLoft, and has its own lines for trail running, alpinism and polar use.

Expedition, ultrarunning and mountain terrain

Montane equips expeditions to polar regions, British mountain rescue teams and some of the world's toughest endurance races, including Spine Race, Yukon Arctic Ultra and Lakeland 100. The garments are a natural choice for those who pursue fast mountain outings, ultrarunning, fastpacking or alpine projects where weight and performance are critical. Montane is also a member of Fair Wear Foundation.
