Dolomite
Italian mountain boots since 1897 with an expedition heritage
Dolomite – Italian mountain boots since 1897
Dolomite was founded in 1897 when Giuseppe Garbuio, just 17 years old, opened Fabbrica Scarpe Montello in Caldogno in the Veneto region of northern Italy. The inspiration came from the Dolomites – the dramatic mountain landscape that gave the brand its name. What began as work boots quickly grew into ski and mountain boots. In 1954, Dolomite equipped the Italian expedition that made the first ascent of K2 in the Karakoram, followed later by ascents of Dhaulagiri (1960) and polar expeditions in Greenland (1966). Dolomite is today part of Scott Sports Group.
Cinquantaquattro, K2 Boot and everyday models
The range is divided between performance and lifestyle. The Cinquantaquattro series (Italian for 54, after the year of the K2 ascent) comprises iconic lifestyle boots that celebrate the brand's craftsmanship and history. The K2 Boot and Tempest cover mountaineering and demanding hillwalking, while everyday models for trail shoes and light hiking footwear broaden the range. Material choices such as Vibram outsoles, Gore-Tex membranes and the brand's own DAS (Dolomite Anatomic System) are consistent throughout.
Italian craftsmanship and fashion heritage
In the 1960s, Dolomite expanded into down jackets that protected expedition members in temperatures down to −40 °C, and in the 1980s the brand launched its first complete outdoor collection. The re:source programme brings together the brand's work on responsible products and supply chains. An excellent choice if you want Italian mountain boot tradition, expedition heritage and an elegant lifestyle aesthetic all in the same pair of shoes.
