The Alugator Light is a thoroughbred, UIAA-approved avalanche shovel from Mammut, featuring a telescoping shaft and a hard-anodised aluminium blade. Despite weighing just 475 grams, it is a functional and robust tool.

The blade measures 24 x 21 cm and is equipped with stabilising ribs for maximum torsional rigidity, a sharp and durable profiled edge, a flat back for easy snow-profile cutting, and grooves at the top of the blade for extra friction against boots when digging. The oval, two-part shaft is made of aluminium and measures just 37 cm when packed down. With the telescoping shaft fully extended, the total length is 75 cm.

All Mammut avalanche shovels from winter 18/19 onwards are UIAA-certified and tested to a demanding test regime for avalanche use. The Alugator Light is no exception.
