Therm-a-Rest – outdoor sleep comfort since 1972

Therm-a-Rest came about in 1971 when three former Boeing engineers – John Burroughs, Neil Anderson and Jim Lea – were looking for a better solution to poor sleep under the stars. In 1972 they launched the world's first self-inflating sleeping mat under the newly founded company Cascade Designs in Seattle, Washington. Therm-a-Rest has since defined the outdoor sleep comfort category, and the brand today offers sleeping mats, sleeping bags, pillows and blankets for outdoor use.

NeoAir, RidgeRest and Z Lite

NeoAir® series, launched in 2008 following the secret Project Tiger, is the lightest and warmest air mattress in the industry – featuring Triangular Core Matrix and ThermaCapture™ reflective coating that provides three times as much warmth as an uninsulated air mattress. RidgeRest® and Z Lite® are classic foam mats with thermally moulded structures that remain the benchmark for ultralight use. The WingLock™ and TwinLock™ valves introduced in 2020 deliver 3–5x faster inflation.

Made in USA and European production

Main production takes place at Cascade Designs' own factories in Reno, Nevada (USA) and Midleton, Cork (Ireland) – the latter operating since 1985 to serve the European market. The company also owns brands such as MSR, Platypus, PackTowl and SealLine. An excellent choice if you want documented quality in a sleeping mat – from the brand that invented the category and continues to set the standard.
