Øyo – Norwegian blacksmith craftsmanship since 1882

Øyo is a Norwegian family business from the mountain village of Geilo, established in 1882 by blacksmith and farmer Knut Øyo. It began with the production of scythes in a small smithy, and in 1916 the factory gained its own power station in collaboration with Brusletto. Today the business is run by the fourth and fifth generations of the Øyo family, and the range has developed from scythes and sickles to quality axes, kitchen knives and outdoor equipment.

Axes, knives and outdoor products

Øyo produces, among other things, axes with a long tradition, kitchen knives – including a collaboration with the Norwegian National Culinary Team – as well as pry bars, masonry tools, scrapers, chisels, and everyday products such as wooden cups, handles and diamond sharpening stones. Designer Katrine Øyo, fifth generation, is behind more recent collections such as Tyri, forged in 67-layer Damascus steel with copper, where Norwegian smithing tradition meets a modern design language.
