Klättermusen was founded in the 1970s in the mountain village of Åre in Sweden, and is known for combining technical mountain gear with an unusually strong commitment to sustainability. The name means the climbing mouse in Swedish, and the brand is aimed at climbers, mountain folk and outdoor enthusiasts who want durable equipment with a low environmental footprint.

Hard-wearing materials and long service life

Klättermusen has been an early mover on a number of environmental initiatives: switching to 100% organic cotton in 2006, using nylon from recycled fishing nets in its bags from 2009, introducing its own deposit scheme for used garments from 2009, and launching a completely fluorocarbon-free collection in 2017 – the first outdoor brand to do so. Shell jackets, salopettes, bags and accessories are built for repair and long-term use.
