AKU – Italian footwear from Montebelluna

AKU is an Italian footwear manufacturer headquartered in Montebelluna, the heart of Italy's historic sports footwear district. The brand was founded by Galliano Bordin, who grew up in a family of shoemakers, and has focused on trekking, hiking and outdoor footwear for several decades. AKU has its own production facilities in Italy and Romania, and is distributed in more than 50 markets worldwide.

Three-dimensional last and Gore-Tex

AKU is known for its three-dimensional last, which takes account of both the forefoot and the underside of the foot, and was among the first brands to integrate a Gore-Tex membrane into hiking boots. The range covers everything from lightweight hiking shoes and fast-hiking models to sturdy trekking boots, professional mountain boots and hunting footwear. Models such as the Trekker Lite, Slope GTX and Tribute II are well-established favourites among outdoor enthusiasts.

Sustainability and long service life

AKU was among the first footwear manufacturers to certify its environmental footprint with an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) in 2017, and publishes an annual sustainability report. Many models can be resoled to extend their service life. A solid choice if you want hiking boots with genuine Italian craftsmanship tradition, precise fit and lasting durability over years of use.
