Aclima – Norwegian wool expertise since 1939

Aclima was founded in 1939 in Drammen by Eivind Johansen, originally under the name Tuna Tekstil, producing wool insoles for the paper industry along the Drammenselva river. In 1998 the company changed its name to Aclima and sharpened its focus exclusively on wool. Today the company is still owned and run by descendants of the founder.

Wool for the military, police and outdoor enthusiasts

Aclima supplies wool clothing to the armed forces, police and civil defence in several countries, and has a large sports division aimed at hikers, hunters, polar explorers and everyday users. Innovations such as WoolNet – mesh base layers that make use of air as insulation – and the collaboration with Lars Monsen on the Anárjohka series have helped define the modern Norwegian wool base layer.

Traceability and European production

The main fibre is merino wool from New Zealand and Australia, and all sewing takes place at Aclima's own factory in Estonia. Garments can be traced back through the supply chain, and the brand is ISO 14001 certified. For long trips, hunting or everyday use, Aclima is a reliable choice for warm, durable wool garments with a clear Norwegian identity.
