Salomon – French mountain and outdoor products since 1947

Salomon was founded in 1947 by François Salomon in Annecy in the French Alps, together with his wife and son Georges Salomon. The company started as a small metalworking workshop producing saw blades and steel edges for wooden skis in the post-war period. The company gradually expanded into ski bindings, and by 1972 Salomon was the world's largest manufacturer of ski bindings. The brand has since become a global reference point for everything from alpine skiing to trail running.

Speedcross, XT-6 and XA Pro

The range includes trail running shoes, mountain shoes, alpine skis, ski bindings, ski boots, rucksacks, clothing and accessories. Models such as Speedcross, XA Pro 3D, X Ultra, S/LAB Sense and the iconic XT-6 are established favourites in trail running and outdoor life. On the clothing side, the brand offers breathable shell jackets, insulation and technical trousers. S/LAB, launched in 2005, represents Salomon's top segment, developed in collaboration with professional athletes.

Innovation and fashion success

In 2019, Salomon opened the Advanced Shoe Factory 4.0 in France – a robotised production facility for sustainable manufacturing. The XT-6, originally a trail running shoe from 2013, has become an unexpected icon within fashion and the gorpcore trend. Salomon is owned by Amer Sports. A strong choice if you want French mountain products with a proven ski and trail heritage – and a brand that continues to define technical outdoor products.
