Mittet – Norwegian fibre and textile factory since 1946

Mittet AS is a family-owned Norwegian company established in 1946. The company operates three factories – two in Norway (at Gåseid in Ålesund and Eidsnes in Sula municipality) and one in Lithuania – and is a significant Nordic manufacturer of textile fabric based on synthetic textile fibres. Originally, Mittet produced home textiles such as curtains and bedspreads, as well as dressing gowns and the popular electric underlay. Today the company is primarily a subcontractor to other industries, but also manufactures its own finished products.

Wide range of applications

Mittet supplies fibre pile and ventilation filters to a range of industries, quilted fabrics for mattress production and clothing, laminated fabrics, acoustic insulation, and overshoes supplied to the Armed Forces. The production facility in Lithuania manufactures fabrics for the clothing and footwear industries. The range also includes rugs and neck straps for horses, acoustic products, headliner material, microfibre filters, and a number of other specialist materials for industry.
