Ledlenser – German LED pioneer since 1994

Ledlenser is a German technology company specialising in portable lighting – LED torches, head torches and inspection lamps. The company was founded in 1994 by twin brothers Rainer and Harald Opolka in a garage in Solingen, Germany, with 1,000 Deutschmarks in start-up capital and an old Atari computer. Today the company has more than 1,500 employees, with production in Yangjiang, China, while research and development continues to take place in Solingen.

Innovation and award-winning design

In 2000, Ledlenser revolutionised the market with the Photon Pump V8 – the world's first torch with an LED instead of an incandescent bulb, a visionary concept that sold in the millions and firmly established the brand. In 2005, the patented Advanced Focus System was launched – an optical combination of lens and reflector that produces a uniform beam of light throughout the full focus range, along with one-handed focusing based on a sliding mechanism. The Opolka brothers have secured more than 100 patents and design rights, and the brand has received around 200 awards, including the Red Dot Design Award, the iF Design Award and the German Brand Award.
