Kupilka
Finnish outdoor cups in biocomposite material
Kupilka – Finnish outdoor cups in Kareline material
Kupilka comes from North Karelia in Finland, and is produced by a family business that has been developing outdoor cups and eating utensils in the biocomposite Kareline since 1996. The material consists of approximately 50% cellulose from certified Finnish pine forests and 50% food-approved polyolefin, and was developed in collaboration with the Wood Technology Centre in Joensuu. All production takes place in North Karelia using clean electricity.
Traditional kuksa cups in a modern form
Kupilka 21 is the classic kuksa cup with a 21 cl capacity, and the range also includes 12 cl coffee cups, 37 cl mugs, 55 cl bowls, cutlery sets and shot glasses. The products withstand boiling water, temperatures down to −30 °C, are dishwasher safe, do not absorb flavours or odours, and can be laser-engraved for a personal touch.
Durability and recyclability
Kupilka is recyclable, involves fewer processes than handcrafted kuksas and in practice lasts an extremely long time. It develops a beautiful patina with use, and smells freshly of wood when new. A good choice for those who want a modern, environmentally friendly version of the traditional Nordic kuksa for coffee on the trail, at the cabin or in the office.
