Icebug
Swedish trail shoes and spiked footwear for secure grip all year round
Icebug – Swedish shoes with the best grip in the industry since 2001
Icebug was founded in 2001 by mother and son Eliza Törnkvist and David Ekelund in Sweden, with one clear goal: to reduce the thousands of slip accidents that occur every winter. The company is today based in Jonsered, surrounded by forest and lakes, and has grown into a global player in footwear friction technology. The brand has shops and distribution in Sweden, Germany and the USA, while production takes place at factories in Vietnam, Cambodia and China.
BUGrip and Nordic Traction
BUGrip is Icebug's iconic technology – the outsoles feature dynamic steel studs in carbide steel that adapt to the surface. On hard asphalt the studs retract into the rubber, while they grip firmly on ice and snow. Nordic Traction is the latest development: a stud-free outsole designed for Nordic winters, tested by the research institute RISE and achieving the world's highest Ice Grip Index of 7.4 – well above the requirement of 3.0. RB9X rubber delivers superior grip on wet mountain rock, and the tractor pattern outsole provides traction in mud and slush.
Climate-positive and B Corp
Icebug is B Corp-certified and a member of 1% for the Planet. The company aims to halve its CO₂ emissions by 2030 and works with suppliers to increase the proportion of bio-based and recycled materials. A natural choice if you want reliable footwear throughout the entire winter – on black ice, mountain trails or everyday outings in northern regions.
