Icebreaker
Natural performance in merino wool from New Zealand
Icebreaker – pioneer in merino wool for outdoor use
Icebreaker was founded by Jeremy Moon in New Zealand in 1995, and was the first brand in the world to develop a complete layering system in merino wool for outdoor use. At a time when the industry was dominated by synthetic materials, Icebreaker placed an early bet on natural performance from fine merino fibre – a strategy the brand continues to build on.
Merino wool with traceability
The wool comes from selected farms in New Zealand, and the brand has been an early mover in transparent supply chains and ethical requirements for animal welfare, including a ban on mulesing. The layering system is categorised by fabric weight, so you can easily choose between lightweight summer garments and warm winter garments such as Tech Lite, Oasis and RealFleece.
Performance for everyday life and the outdoors
Merino wool regulates temperature, moves moisture and naturally resists odour, and can be worn for several days in a row without washing. Icebreaker is a great choice for mountain hikes, everyday wear, travel and exercise, and works equally well under a shell jacket or under a shirt at work.
