Fjällräven – timeless outdoor garments from northern Sweden
Fjällräven was founded by Åke Nordin in Örnsköldsvik on Sweden's Höga kusten in 1960. It began with a rucksack built on an aluminium frame in his home basement, and has grown into one of Scandinavia's most recognisable outdoor brands. The name means arctic fox in Swedish, and the arctic fox logo is sewn into the vast majority of garments.
G-1000, Greenland and Kånken
The densely woven G-1000 fabric was introduced in the Greenland jacket in 1968 and can be wax-treated with Greenland Wax for extra water and wind resistance. The iconic Kånken rucksack was made in 1978 to ease back problems among Swedish schoolchildren, and today is just as common on city streets and school benches as it is on the mountain.
Hiking, hunting and everyday use
The range includes trekking trousers, anoraks, down jackets, rucksacks and classic wool garments, and is equally well suited to long multi-day trips as to daily use. The focus on durability, natural materials and repairable construction makes Fjällräven a sound choice for anyone looking for outdoor clothing that will last many seasons.
