With over 20 years in the sports industry, Kine knows what customers really need. At Jobb og Fritid's new outlet at Veitasentret, she puts her experience to use where most people pass through – right in the heart of the city.
Kine, you have worked in the industry for many years. What brought you to Veita?
I have worked in the sports industry since 2004, and for me it has always been important to work somewhere that puts quality, expertise and great customer experiences at the forefront. When the opportunity at Veita came up, it felt like a natural next step. Here I get to draw on my experience alongside an enthusiastic team that shares my interest in outdoor life and quality products.
Jobb og Fritid has been established at Jekta for some time. What sets Veita apart from Jekta?
We have the same focus on quality, expertise and personal service, but Veita has its own identity. The central location means we meet a broad range of customers – locals, visitors and tourists alike. That makes for a varied working day and many interesting encounters with people who have very different needs.
What is the advantage of having many years of experience when you meet customers?
Experience means I can quickly get to grips with a customer's needs and find good solutions. I have used a lot of the equipment myself over many years of outdoor activities, so I can give advice based on both professional knowledge and personal experience. My aim is always for the customer to leave with products that suit their exact needs and make their trip or activity even better.
What are you most looking forward to at Veita going forward?
I am looking forward to getting to know our customers even better and being part of developing the shop further. It is motivating to be able to inspire more people to get out into nature and to help them have great experiences.
What would you say to someone who has not yet visited Veita?
Come and pay us a visit! Here you will meet staff who are genuinely passionate about sport and outdoor life, and who are happy to share advice and experiences. We want everyone to feel welcome, whether you are a complete beginner or have years of experience.
Which product would you recommend everyone try?
Wool – all year round. Many people associate wool with winter, but I wear wool just as happily in summer. Wool regulates temperature, wicks moisture and keeps you comfortable on both short and long trips, in everyday life and during activity. Once you have experienced how versatile and comfortable good wool is, it is hard to go back. It is one of the products I recommend most, whatever the season.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The very best part is meeting people. No two days are the same, and I find it rewarding to help customers find what they need. It is especially pleasing when customers come back and tell us about a successful trip or a great experience where the advice and equipment they got from us made a difference. I also really appreciate the good working environment and my colleagues.
